The GFWC Vernon Township Woman’s Club is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization established in 1972 with the motto “To live is not to live for one’s self alone; Let us help one another.”
We are women of all ages, from Vernon and towns nearby, who share a commitment to helping others through volunteer service.
Our dedicated members consistently make positive contributions to our local community as well as to individuals across the country and around the world. We brighten the lives of students, families in need, soldiers and veterans, social service agencies, nursing home residents and many other segments of the population through a wide range of ongoing programs including:
- Scholarships for high school students
- Birthday gifts for nursing home residents
- Christmas gifts for children living in domestic abuse shelters
- Cell phones, Christmas stockings and wool caps for soldiers
- Monetary awards for Eagle Scout and Gold Award recipients
- School clothes and hand-knitted hats/scarves/mittens for poverty stricken children
- Chest pillows for breast cancer patients
- Personal care items for homeless men
- Food pantry donations
- Homemade cookies for domestic abuse victims and nursing home residents
Our club is part of the Highlands District of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC), and a member of the Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). Come to one of our meetings as a guest, and get a first-hand look at how we improve the world, one small deed at a time.
