The GFWC Vernon Township Woman’s Club is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization established in 1972 with the motto “To live is not to live for one’s self alone; Let us help one another.”
We are women of all ages, from Vernon and towns nearby, who share a commitment to helping others through volunteer service.
Our dedicated members consistently make positive contributions to our local community as well as to individuals across the country and around the world. We brighten the lives of students, families in need, soldiers and veterans, social service agencies, nursing home residents and many other segments of the population through a wide range of ongoing programs including:
Christmas gifts and Easter baskets for children living in domestic abuse and homeless shelters
Support Special State Projects every two years: Prevent Child Abuse NJ and CASA NJ
Monthly donations to food pantries and shelters, as needed
Scholarships for high school students and women over 35 returning to school
Monetary awards for Eagle Scout and Gold Award recipients
Monetary awards for Most Improved Middle School Students
Monthly birthday gifts and homemade cookies for nursing home residents
Cell phones, Christmas stockings and handmade caps for soldiers and crossword puzzles with answers for hospitalized veterans
Chest pillows for breast cancer patients and lap blankets for chemotherapy patients
Collected 58 sewing machines for "Sew Peace" to enable women in third world countries to become independent
Our club is part of the Highlands District of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC), and a member of the Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). Come to one of our meetings as a guest, and get a first-hand look at how we improve the world, one small deed at a time.
